Professor Ailsa Hart (St Mark’s Hospital, London, UK) joined touchIME on World IBD Day and discussed how diagnosis can be challenging, but emerging treatments can improve outcomes for people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. She also highlighted the impact that IBD can have on quality of life, including mental health and the exciting research that is ongoing.
Matthew Davis (Manchester, UK) lives with Crohn’s disease and for World IBD Day he talked with touchIME about how the disease and the treatment affects his daily life. He explained that although the treatment controls his disease, he is often concerned about flare-ups, which can cause some anxiety. Matthew also shared some of his strategies for coping; exercising regularly, minimizing stress and trying to keep a positive outlook!
